Mālama ‘āina
In Hawaiian Mālama means to take care of and Āina means the land. When visiting the islands, please take care of the land.
Here are ways you can Mālama ‘āina.
1. Pick up ʻōpala (trash) and take it with you when you leave anywhere you visit when in Hawai’i.
2. Always and I mean ALWAYS use reef-safe sunscreens. @onelovebodysoul, @laniandkaisun and @lahaina_organics are my recommendations. They’re all locally made here in Hawai’i.
3. Leave da Āina the way you found it or even better than you found it by taking care of it.
4. About 90% of the coral reefs in Hawai'i are dead. In order to prevent any damage to the reef, do not touch it with your feet or in any other way.
5. It is important that you do not harass the wildlife that you see on the Hawaiian islands.
6. Help keep Hawai’i ʻōpala (trash) free by organizing ʻōpala clean ups of our parks, trails, mountains and beaches.
